Hi I’m Dr Jeremy Wetzel here at the Anderson Center for hair and today I’m going to walk you through all of the steps involved in an FUT hair restoration surgery also known as a linear or a strip surgery when you arrive on the day of your procedure you’ll choose your lunch and review the consent paperwork then you’ll be brought back to the oart to meet with your surgeon we’ll review your allergies and medications and you can ask any questions you may have and you’ll sign your consents next the team will check your vitals draw your blood for platelet rich plasma injections which will be used later during the surgery I’ll take a set of photographs from multiple angles to have on file as a baseline this will become the before to compare with the after photographs in one year we’ll return to the o to discuss and design the hairline we’ll take care to evaluate the size and shape of your head the extent of your hair loss and how much donor hair will how to create a custom surgical plan tailored specifically to your situation and your needs and preferences at this point the doctor will administer a sedative to help you relax and make the day go by faster for you many patients eventually fall asleep next we’ll trim the hair in the back in the donor area and we Mark the areas for extraction then we send the patient for a hair wash using a special surgical shampoo which helps reduce the risk of infection and to wash away any loose hairs from the haircut meanwhile the blood drawn for the plet rich plasma has been processing in a centrifuge the red blood cells are removed and discarded the leftover plasma is spun down again which allows us to isolate the platelets with a small amount of plasma this mixture appears yellow at this point the PRP is prepped and ready after returning from the hair wash it’s time for anesthesia your surgeon will numb the back in sides of your scalp so that you don’t feel any pain or discomfort while the strip is being extracted once the strip has been removed our highly trained team of technicians slivers the hair follicles from the donor strip and then trims excess tissue off each follicle simultaneously your surgeon will use sutures to close the wound in the donor area next we move to the front and top of the scalp also known as the recipient area where the hair will be transplanted the next step is to inject the plor plasma the growth factors contained in the PRP will help stimulate the new hair follicles when they’re placed into the recipient area next it’s time to create the SES where the hairs will be implanted your surgeon will make one tiny incision for each follicle that incision determines the location the direction and the angle at which the hair will grow this part of the process is where the artistic skill of your surgeon really makes a difference in your final result when all the follicles are trimmed and ready our team of technicians will implant them one by one into the sites that the surgeon created two to three technicians at a time will place the follicles to minimize the time the grafts spend disconnected from their blood supply and that’s it we’ll get you cleaned up and cover your new follicles with the temporary bandage you’ll be provided with the take-home kit and day-by-day Recovery instructions you will need to ride home on the day of your procedure but you’ll be clear to return to normal activities as early as the next day if you have any questions whether it’s about a part of the surgical process whether or not you’re an ideal candidate or even if you’re just starting to experience ha loss and want us to take a look don’t hesitate to call us here at the Anderson Center for hair
