Hello I’m Dr Jeremy Wetzel one of the two surgeons here at the Anderson Center for hair where we focus exclusively on treating patients with hair loss using the latest Surgical and non-surgical techniques from our offices in Alpharetta in Atlanta today I’d like to share a bit of my story and how I found my way into this field and why I’m so passionate about it actually one of the most common questions I get from patients is how I ended up doing hair restoration surgery given them my background is in neuros Sur surgery they’ll say hey Doc you trained as a neurosurgeon how did you end up doing this it’s a great question and there are many reasons for the transition but I’ll talk about a couple of them here I completed my residency training in neurosurgery at the emry University School of Medicine spending seven years and countless hours learning how to operate on the brain and spine around the time that I finished that intense training two pivotal things happened first I discovered a new passion art I had started drawing and painting and I found myself deeply enjoying the creative process this was during the height of the co pandemic which gave me some time to reflect and explore this newfound interest the second pivotal moment came when I met Dr Ken Anderson we talked about hair restoration surgery and his enthusiasm for the field really stood out to me he talked about how much it felt like he was creating art which immediately caught my attention inspired I decided to train with him and learn The Art of Hair Restoration surgery I spent over a year under his guidance learning the nuances of the specialty I had already had extensive surgery iCal training so the technical aspects of it came easily but learning and refining the artistic skills involved which I think are the key to a good outcome ended up being the part that I was really drawn to what sets hair restoration surgery apart from other surgical Specialties is the creative element most surgical Specialties especially neurosurgery are highly Technical and while all surgery has an art to it on some level hair restoration allows me to feel like I’m creating and not just repairing or fixing each case feels like a blank canvas for example when I’m designing a frontal hairline for a patient who currently doesn’t have one I need to make sure that it fits his or her face well his position just right and is the right shape considering the angle and the direction of the hair growth as well all the things that will ensure that it looks natural the artistic approach to Hair Restoration combined with the opportunity to make such a profound impact in my patients lives is what I love most about the work one of my favorite parts of the job actually is sitting down with patients a year after their surgery to review their results seeing the transformation in photos and the joy their new hair brings them is incredibly gratifying hair restoration surgery allows me to combine my technical expertise with my passion for art creating something truly meaningful for each patient it’s not just about restoring hair it’s about restoring confidence and helping people feel like themselves again so come and see us and let’s chat about what we can do for you
